Get to know the fascinating story of Lukáš Mihalák, a native of Ždiar and an Olympian, a cross-country skier with heart and soul.
The love for the Tatra peaks and the smell of the Ždiar forest has always been greater than the opportunity to go to the city for better conditions for work, life or training. Olympic-themed room with a double bed, a maisonette sleeping area and a bathroom with a whirlpool. Exclusive views of the Belianske Tatra Mountains, where Lukáš Mihalák lived even after his active career ended, are offered by the balcony on the 5th floor.
In the years when he was born nobody skied in Ždiar, he learned everything from ski tourists. He made skis out of a wooden barrel, put together metal bindings and trained daily for huge distances with ease, humility and predation. At the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, he took 5th place in the 4 x 10km relay and 10th place individually in the 18km cross-country race.
